Working Table

Today the dinning room table is a working table. At the end of the year my brother-in-law's company has an event that he coordinates. This makes for a 'not able to do' at the moment tablescape.

However, I did think I can do this....

This is the view from my bedroom - this is a BBQ counter and it is often a 'catch all' spot for outdoor tool stuff, when the BBQ is not in use. And yesterday as I was getting ready for work, looking out my window I wanted something pretty to look at. What I also need to say is that yesterday there was some poinsettias (fake) sitting there before the wind today blew off. The poinsettias are the inspiration to the need to have pretty sitting there. Love how inspiration comes from just a look, now I off to get those poinsettias into something that won't blow away.

                         Have a happy Tuesday,

Turkeys for the Table

My Turkey just got some new friends. Last Thursday we went to the Big Mountain to enjoy the fresh mountain air.  We wandered around the Big Village; entering tourist stores, with tourist prices. But when my sister & I came across these we just had to get them...

                                                     Turkey Salt & Pepper Shakers

There was also a beautiful teapot, that once we got it home we saw that it  matched Sister's new ceramic Pumpkin - awesome finds that also had  45% off.

With a new Tuesday Table Top coming I needed some inspiration and with Turkey Day approaching, I wanted to have the turkeys as my focal point. Only the pumpkins are bigger then the turkeys.....

so how do I make that happen.... with pedestals. Well I didn't have any but I knew I could by going to the Dollar Tree.

Even though I got 3 of the same size candlesticks from the Dollar Tree, I wanted one to be a bit taller. When to work early and did a bit of scouting and found a taller candlestick. This morning I was just going to write about putting them together only I couldn't find my glass glue so using my hot glue gun, which isn't permanent & a good thing since Sis & I began talking about painting them. We came up with the idea to give it a mercury glass look. I was able to get the look I wanted - Turkeys as the focal point.

The is what it looks like, I grabbed some scatter leaves - bought 2 years ago from the Dollar Tree - and some acorns that I had gotten from Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago. Put it all together and voila ....

Well, that's the Table for Tuesday, have an awesome day of Turkey, full of family & friends love and thankfulness of God's blessings.

                                                  until next,
                                                                Mia

couple of things.... if you choose to try this the hot glue is not a permanent adhesive so move by the bottom stick and the raffia didn't make it the final cut, in case you wondered. Lastly, I will share my trip to the Big Mountain soon.

Pumpkins

Tabletop Tuesday's are pumpkins.... salt & pepper pumpkins to be exact.

I didn't change the center from last; other than adding the
                                                    salt & pepper shakers.
My sister Velvet is a salt & pepper collector, so I was very happy
to have found these at our local Dollar Tree - Yuppie!!!

I have noticed that the blogs I follow are doing either Christmas or Food for the Big Guy. I went to YouTube to see what I could find.... again it was all Christmas stuff. Well, the newly uploaded videos. I searched to look for past years videos, the ideas are very good. Pinterest is another place of inspiration. Love looking at the pictures, most of them are of the Great Outdoors or pumpkin dressed tables.

a tabletop from a couple years ago of my Fall Friends

Well, I'm off to 'shop' around the house to create a new Tabletop before I need to get ready for work.

Tabletop Tuesday Center Stage: Velvet's Pumpkin

                                                          Velvet' Pumpkin

at the Dollar Tree

Couple weeks ago I was in my local Dollar Tree to pick up some more leaves, I always need leaves - they are great space fillers, and I wandered into the candle aisle. I have wanted some pillar candle holders and just wanted to see if I could at least stack something together to give the appearance. With the wheels turning this is what I came up with on the spot.

A week later this is what comes home with me. A set of three; candles, glass hurricanes, and metal oil burners. The hurricanes was added when the flameless candles where all gone and I got burning candles. I will adhere the Hurricanes to the oil burners - someday... when I find the right adhesive, glass to metal.

this is Velvet's pumpkin
My sister bought this ceramic pumpkin from Hobby Lobby; Fall Stuff was 50% off and I sucked her in to the store with the promise of savings, hehehe.

                  the end result .....

Loving the fullness of the arrangement.

camera picture

Taken with camera and phone. The phone's clarity in color is awesome but the close up not so well, the camera's close up frames the arrangement is perfect. I need to have play dates with the camera and some tutorials on lighting on the cheap.

Loving Velvet's new pumpkin, it was the perfect choice to build around. The little ceramic pumpkins are mine from several years ago - Dollar Tree purchase. The bead picks are new, I bought on the same shopping trip as Sister's pumpkin, Thought they would be perfect to help the leaves in filling in the space. I had stopped there and loved the Ceramic Pumpkin Table but it need just a teeny tiny bit more of fullness. So added the gourd, not ceramic so I felt it needed to have more of the same material little pumpkins.

Thought you would enjoy a Turkey from the Hunt.

                            until next time,

Turkey Time

Love Love the holiday season, the time we spend with family. As my kids was growing up we went Trick o' Treating; Turkey at Abuelos on Thursday and Friday at Aunt Velvet's; Christmas was Eve with the Abuelos mornings was mine and then day was Aunt Velvet; lastly New Years at Abuelos. Seasonal activities and decorating is a big thing for me; pumpkin carving and dressing up. Let's not forget the olives... pitted olives stuck onto the tips fingers to eat.
The kids are grown now, in homes of their own and about 4 years ago I was really missing them in my home. Nostalgia set in for the early days of my kids and the longing to be with them. That is how the Turkey Hunt began, a way to have a day to day fun with them. The rules are any type of picture of turkeys are admissible and last year was the first year that the sharing was posted to Facebook. It is great seeing everyone post a turkey. I am excited for this years fun and adding more family and friends to share in this new tradition.
new addition to the family
thought I would share this turkey here before the Hunt group. Hobby Lobby was having a 50% off  Fall decor so this little guy came home with me. He is my second turkey, my first turkey is a stuff toy.

What are your traditions for your Turkey?  Let the Turkey fun began!

Fall Tabletop Tuesday

This is still this weeks Tabletop. I love my Scarecrows and can't seem to find anything to love more at the moment. I had even went to Hobby Lobby to find Stuff ... they have a 50% off Fall Decor so I thought perfect to go find some Fall decor. Only this morning I just couldn't bring myself to change it.
Well, there is a whole month left to re-style.

        till the next Tabletop Tuesday,
                                            Mia
