Flowers

              I love Flowers
at Retail there are flowers that are not real expensive - $5 bucks for a small bunch but to have some for the house - fresh ones all the time can get expensive. The last time I bought flowers was for Valentines Day, 2 months ago and they where for me. I was given some from my daughter when I graduated in 2015, before that was .... who knows.

The flower that began it all...
my flower of love is the Tulip

the yellow are cut ones                   a potted bunch that I just
for my co-worker                           had to take a picture
                                                                                                    at Retail

Tulips became my favorite when I was little my Mom said my father's side is Dutch - Tulips are Dutch, only thing my little girl knowledge knew - so that was my favorite. I liked Carnations because they are my birth month flowers and they grew just about everywhere I was. As I grew, peer pressure said that Roses are the better Flower, I followed the crowd Roses became my new favorite flower. The Tulip and Carnation fell to the way side for many years.

a little history trivia about tulips,
                                                        they where once considered:
                                                                    currency

As I began Thinking what Flowers I love and would grace my home, Tulips and Carnations came to mind, how I once loved them. I think of Tulips as a graceful elegant flower and Carnations as a fresh and playful sort; a bit like me. I will still have Roses in my home, they lend a touch of quiet and stillness to the moment.

My new Flower is the Ranunculus, love the many petals it takes to make the swirls. Similar to life; the petals swirled together making something beautiful. That sums up my life right now too and could be the reason I was drawn to these flowers when I bought them in February.

Yes, these are the faux ones I put on the picture frame lantern I made for Valentines Day.

And some Faux Roses, I have a couple of bushes. These where cut off the bundle to put in small containers, like my China creamers.

I will have Tulips, Carnations, Roses, and Ranunculus everywhere in my house, I just need the budget to get them.... the fresh ones. But until then I will enjoy the Faux ones.

       What Flowers do you enjoy?

                      until next,

Table & Trinkets

Spring 2016

Why I came to use the word Trinket:
the words Decorate felt permanent or at lest as long as the next coat of paint. Knickknack felt to much like something that belonged in a cabinet, Bauble a piece of jewellery, and Doodad felt like something that you where unsure what to call it - you know a Thingamajig. But Trinket now that felt like a word I could use when I decorated the Table.

Jan 2017
Displaying them is a way for me to enjoy a few of these trinkets, and they are never put the same way. Here is where it all began....

Christmas 2012

My Sister's Christmas Salt & Pepper collection

Christmas 2016

Sister is not a Trinket kind of person, to much dusting she says. Which is true, to have them sitting around day in and day out, Trinkets need at least a weekly dusting. Though in this Horsetown dusting is a daily thing. And with creating new looks each time takes care of that dusting.

Though these things don't get changed as often as the table, they do get new looks every once in a while when they get a dusting.

I love trinkets I think they lend an insight to who a person is. What do you collect and display for all to see?

                      until next table,
                                       Mia

Love at the Table

Yes, Monday again at the table and working on a Tabletop Tuesday and I couldn't find the picture that started it all. Believe it is on Dutch which is an hour longish search, hopefully that is where it is. Now it is already time for me to wrap things up and get ready for Retail. Tomorrows Retail hours are an oddball day, leaving no morning time for leisure.

Leisure time for me these days is me in my house socks.

As you can see the table still has Easter on it

Tomorrow's oddball Retail hours aren't leaving me much time to pack away Easter Trinkets
and get the table ready for Tuesday. So I got a little creative with
sharing why I call the decorative pieces Trinkets (the post I started to do).
And when I get a vision of which pictures I want to use
and when I can't find it
it will take days to get the right flow.

Like Celebrating Easter I was looking on Lewie & Dutch for this picture,
I even tried one of my Flashdrives of pictures

( which I found today on Facebook as a memory post)

making confetti eggs for the last time, right after this picture was taken we had a confetti 'fight'
which lead to finding confetti til Christmas LOL
ok that is a bit of an exaggeration but it did take a lot of vacuuming
(dinning room and living room was one long room)
of the couch, love seat & bookcase (top too) for a month.

me & my tea at the table

Brother in law working the table

You see the reasons why this table is important to this house & why I wish to make pretty; is all the work done at the table. But this is the main reason....

mealtime for this Hero of mine.

well, off to Retail gotta keep the Trinket bank full

until next table,

Celebrating Easter

A framed photo of me , my sisters & Mom; early 70's .... notice the bell bottoms LOL.

Easter - the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ our Lord.
                                                                  Our Savior.
Growing up Easter was just about the bunny, egg hunt, and the ham dinner. I then was introduce to Jesus Christ and began a journey as His Child. I read the story from the Bible but never really understood Jesus's beating and hanging till I watched the movie " Passion of the Christ' produced by Mel Gibson. My walk with Jesus is a personal one and one that I felt hard to share - how can I believe in someone that I can't see or feel or hear; how do I explain I do. So I kept my relationship personal.

When my children where little we colored eggs on Saturday, had the egg hunt, made a nice ham dinner. Not being an avid church goer - there was always some stupid reason why we didn't go.  I really didn't know how to explain God to my kids.  'Just Because ' didn't really explain who God is. I still have no words on how to explain this love. But I am learning how to express more of who I am as a child of God.

        I have said to a small circle of family and friends that we celebrate Christmas - His Birth, for at least a month.... I do. The decorating, baking, making, giving, and gathering of Christmas is important, having a month long party of this miracle. Now how is it that Easter is not celebrated with the same exuberance ? Virgin Birth, Crucifixion, Resurrection all so very important. I have wanted to do this for a while make my - in the past -  weekend celebration to a week long, to a month long celebration; only I haven't quite gotten there yet. My kids have grown up and since I never really put a high value - celebration wise with my kids, schedules and home makes for what I envision difficult to happen. I've decorated and made, wondered of the gathering - that schedule thing again;

so I tell myself maybe next year.

( this is not my picture I found it several years
ago and downloaded to use as inspiration)

Today I will share a few spots of Easter Spring done around the house.

                                                             Have a blessed Easter

                      until next,
                                         Mia

Table for Easter Week

So it is Monday morning and Sis will be home tonight, and and and and....

this is what the table looks like

I was taking some pictures of a few of my trinkets

I wanted to do more than 3 subjects and more pictures of each, it seems that my 'fired up' excitement of my weekend alone to just take pictures didn't go as plan. My creativity just seem to fall to the way and a ' it's the weekend ' feel came over me and I spent it in front of the boob tube. Well, most of it ~ time ~ because I did get some pictures.

So this morning I came in, began putting stuff away ~ so Sis won't come home to a messy house and this is what I will leave the table with...

Though I may have a new table look by Sunday, today I will enjoy my cute little bunnies on their new pedestals I found while wondering around Target on Wednesday. They should have been in the Dollar Spot but I think someone was having plans for them only to have change their mind. Luck had it that I found them. Smiley face !!!

These  eggs which I call my Victorian Eggs I bought years ago (like 17 years) at Michael's Craft store. I bought them over a 3 year period and was lucky that I didn't buy any duplicates. I wonder if they are still a part of the Seasonal merchandise?

                                    until next table,
                                                 Mia

Entryway Bookcase

            Hello ....

remember this, it is the small bookcase that is in the entryway of my Sister's home. It has been somewhat bland for the past week-ish. On Saturday it received a new look.

                                                 ta-dah ...

This look was in my room on my skinny bookcase for about the same past week-ish

I love theses bunnies, they are just adorable

I found them at a thrift store in Redding, California; I was living there with
my Mindy Mom & Dad. I got the Egg Tree at the Target in Redding too. I thought it would look nice if they switch places, letting anyone who comes in enjoy these cuties.

My Wildflower Tree Stump on my skinny bookcase. I've had this Tree Stump since 1991 that I forgot where I bought it. It was a cache pot that had a lid that broke about 2 years later and gained these flowers. The flowers held up very well from being packed and unpacked for so long that the branches are no longer adjustable, it lends to the wild look. Wondering if  they can make it to another Spring?

My recent find at the local Goodwill store is still finding it's way, it's own home.

You've heard that saying from grandma - ' everything in its place and a place for everything'; this is what this decorative tin did when I walked through Goodwill..... calling out,  'take me home with you, I'll make pretty for you, take me home please...'

I'm still tweaking this - can't see the eggs very well, but I love when I can find multiple uses for Pretties. These are the flowers and ivy on my lantern from Valentine's Day. I will reveal the tweaking of this at a later date; my thoughts are  'this will look lovely on the dinning room table'.

                                   until next table,
                                                Mia
