Birthday Girl

Elizabeth
Today is this lovely young lady's birthday, she is my daughter Elizabeth. She is a wonderful girl who loves her Momma. She works hard at See's Candy and knows exactly which chocolate to bring me. I thank God for the Blessings of my children, 4 in all.

I enjoying walking which is a good thing since I can't afford a car. Car payment, gas and insurance is just too much for my pocket. Thankfully school is a mile away, same with the local market; library is 2 miles and Hobby Lobby a craft and decor store is also 2 miles (both are on a city bus route). Like I say I enjoy walking, just not in this Indian Summer. On my way home at 10:30 in the morning, from school Wednesday I became overheated and dehydrated.  I know dehydrating can happen, just I have not experienced with 90 degree and the extreme overheating. Once home I knew to drink water & lots of it, took it easy for the rest of the day, basically studied had a test the next day. Only what I never had happen was the nausea, which continued into the next morning and headache till Friday.
Friday mornings  I have an exercise session with a great bunch of gals.....

It is a blessing to have meet them and uplifting with the support we give each other. And the sharing of knowledge... because of being dehydrated I learned this: water that has been processed through osmosis (the taking out) and not putting back the good stuff - the minerals. Thank you Amy, our facilitator and sister in Christ.

                                         have the best of weeks,

Saturday & Baseball

Baseball you ask what does baseball have to do with Artistic Living, the home. Well, yes it could if you want to design a room dedicated to baseball. But that is not what this story is about. I often come to the Big City to help my sister's or brother's boys ... 8 in total. Today I came to the Big City to be a chauffeur for My Hero, I call all my nephews Heroes because they are going grow up and do great things. Back to baseball as I sat there watching My hero play, memories of my childhood summers of watching park leagues play, how carefree those days where. I began thinking of how Americana summer baseball park games are and the blessing it is to be here.
One thing that was on my mind.... what will I say here to you, being here, in the Big City meant that I didn't get my Fall decorating done in time to share with you. Now that it is evening & I still have nothing about home to share .... but this is. To me Artistic Living is about having a rich life; not about Money and what pretty bauble money can get you. But the richness of My Hero hitting a double and bringing 2 runners in and being the loudest of cheers for him.
This is a fitting end to summer, a hot day filled with parents cheering kids on the diamond field; the smell of grilled burgers and ice cream sandwiches . Next week bring on the Fall.

I pray everyone has an awesome end of Summer days.

Homework

Hello how has everyone's week been? Mine has been filled of reading text books and homework.  I have 3 classes Guidance, Health, and Yoga. Health is the only class I need for my Associates, Guidance was recommended by my counselor, and Yoga was just for the exercise and extra unit.  The teachers are great, though the Yoga teacher seems a bit airhead though she knows her poses. When I started this blog I thought my English class (which was last semester) would be the one to refer back on the resource.
English Homework
Pouring over the how to's of writing, lessons in research, and the emotion of words.  Now enter my Health class, more than how you take care of your body physically but how mentally and spiritually too.
The Book

The teacher, Miss Martie, has assigned a project: Wellness Project, a 15 Step How to Achieve a Goal. I thought "WOW is could help me with this blog, I could base the Project on my Blog and present it to her", so  here goes.
The Goal: to improve my skills in keeping a home, and earn a bit of money too.
                                            STEPS

#1: Find what/how to/understand how this blog can make me money. Done.
                    #2: Sign up for AdSence.
                    #3: Blog ideas.....

the other steps are of the blog; ideas that float around in my head, dreams of my Artful Home and what I do to accomplish it. Need to leave those ideas as a surprise for you, but I have to remember the steps to help in sharing how I improved these skills and my life.

What I find most appealing about this class is that I have been praying that I can be a more discipline person in my domestic life. If I don't have to do dishes I leave them and this class reminds me that it takes 5 minutes to wash my cereal bowl and put away. God answering prayers and now I need to be the good steward and Do what is being taught to me.

Proverbs 3:5-6   Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on
your own understanding; in all ways submit to him,

                                 Have an awesome blessed week,

The Lawn & Roof

Hello Saturday,    how has your week been? Mine has been good, started school this week and I feel confident that my teachers & I will get along nicely.
The Library

Mid July I wrote of  reseeding the front lawn and had these grand illusions of producing this lush green lawn free of weed; reality would be that the lawn would gain some grass and the weeds would be a minimum. Well, the day after returning from the Big City the roof was coming down and it was a semi DIY project. In order to keep the cost down we removed the old roof and the clean up and the roofers did the new roof. Pictures say more than I in what happen to the Lawn.

New roof
5 days of clean up work and 3 days of workers on the roof this makes for a whole new look to the place. The lawn and roses have taken a beating and now are in need of a little TLC.
Harvest wreath
A new look for the front is just in time for my harvest wreath. I had re-glued the flowers and added the new bow. I've this wreath for at least 10 years and about the 4th year the flowers began to fall off and the past couple years it has been just sitting in a bag waiting to be pretty again. This year I hope to find a wreath box to fit.

Well, I'm off to do some homework maybe get a load of laundry in. Have an awesomely blessed week.
                                truly,
                                        Mia
