My Room & Stuff

My Room and all my Stuff.

Valentines 2018

About my room....     but first here are the specs of
                                                  the room - 10x12 feet with a closet of 6x2 feet;
furniture consist of a twin bed, dresser, desk & chair,
night stand, shelving, and storage drawers. And
                                                  let's not forget my seasonal containers/boxes &
                                                  laundry baskets.

Starting with my bed.... yes the bed is not made, like most days and I have
way to many pillows - 5 to be exact. Love my pillows, though it is time for some
       new ones.

My bed through the years, at one point I had the mattress on the floor, which
once down I struggled to get up and I was just about to become 50 - just think what
that would be like, LOL. I ordered a bed frame a few years ago from Walmart.
Loving it, perfect under bed storage even with the de-cluttering needed.

                               Next my Desk:

This is the best clean shot of my desk, 97% of the time it has something
on it and it isn't always a project. Quite often it is a catch all for the things I
think I may need for a project or some decor pieces that haven't found it's spot.

Summer of 2018
Think I was cleaning the day I took this picture - the chair is empty of
a laundry basket. At one point the desk had half the closet and I hanged clothes
in the other half. I would like to get a table and use it as a desk. I may have better
under storage for my craft supplies. The chair is gone so now I keep decor boxes in
                front of the desk.

.... and sometimes I have to use the Table to work at because there is just to much
         going on at the Desk.

              My Dresser:

When the bed was on the floor 2013

Also an ever changing spot and catch-all. And the TV

It holds all the norms - pj's, t-shirts, and a few whatnot's. Whatnot's being extra
pocket tissues, medicine, fun Holiday jewelry, you know those kinda whatnot's.

As an ever changing spot I am able to rotate pictures, styles and the Holiday vignettes.
It will always keep my Make-up, hair bobs and jewelry, just wish I could get a system that
will contain them better then the last system.

                                    The shelf over the dresser:

This is where I have my Pretties when not being used for the Table or vignettes around the Room.

A Lavender French Farmhouse look. A surprise look since that is not my usual
collecting; the bowl and tea cup was a gift from my dear friend Joyce.

                The Other Spots....

There are a few other spots in my room that are have small pieces of furniture, making the
room even smaller. A nightstand, a wire shelf, a slim bookcase, and a few organizer items.

With the Desk being cluttered and I still have to do work stuff in my room -
blog  planning, and creating; I brought in a TV tray and a bed tray.
Which is ALWAYS :) surrounded with my ever growing craft supplies. Think this
needs a better organizing system then my Dresser. This we may go into in depth
of the Other Spots and how I organize this - which is Sooooo desperately in need.

                       The Stuff....

Some of these pictures are years old, I have been in this room for about 6 years and
the  wall colors has been here even longer. I've wanted to paint but my room has just gathered
Stuff over the years and moving everything out for a weekend to paint .... well, let's just say
Not  Happening. Now the Sister ( remember this is Sister's home) wants to redo the floor though
out the house - this might be the time to paint. I have been slowly working on where I will be
 putting all this Stuff.

             The Storage Shed:

Only I don't think I have the room....

This is what I have been up to the past few weeks... in the heat. I would be good
one day & work on it then down for a day or two, (yes, in the early morn or early eve).
I may have to rethink how and what I am storing. While writing this I can see how much
more this can be shared after all the goal here is to have an Artful Life.

This will have to be in parts because there is so much more I want to say
about the Room & Stuff and it is time to get ready for Retail.
                                              until next time,
                                                                 Mia

Birthday Table

July just isn’t The United States Birthday , but the beginning of the Birthday Season
of my children. I thought A Naked Cake would be awesome to make to kick off the Season.
July also has several family members birthdays and it has been just a month for cakes. Loved
making this cake unfortunately I lost the photoshoot portion of this cake and the only reason
this one is here was that I had already put this one here before I lost the pictures. Thankfully!!

My Mother's dishes, Metlox Poppytrail - Zinnia.  My Mother had these in a storage,
moved way from the area ( forgot where the storage was) and when she finally got it out
these dishes where there .....  I just loved them. Thought it would be a nice way to have
a part of Mom in this Birthday Season.

These are some pre-photoshoot of the Birthday cake and are of the dishes that I used on the table.

When I saw them again in Mom's (new) storage - Mom had a gypsy heart and loved moving only could never really afford to take her whole house so she would put what she couln't take in storage, I brought them home with me.

On one of my Thrift shopping; I found these green desert cups and knew I needed
these too. What I didn't know was how well it goes with the Zinnia dishes. Perfect,
believe they are both made in the 60's so pairing them works.

                       I have to share...
I want to express that I love you for still checking out what I have been doing here while I
stumble through missing my Mom. This post was suppose to be 2 weeks ago - posted; and projects
are taking longer to do because I have been either at Retail or binging on YouTube, and it is some-
thing I love but don't do - Gardening. Though I have been thinking of new content and get back
to this vision of mine

Screenshots from Pinterest Victoria Magazine board. Soon.... this will be my life and taking you on this journey will be a joy. Thank you for sticking by me as I go through the mess of life.

                    until next table,

The Fourth Table

My 4th of July Table .....

The inspiration - the Red plates. I got to work last week and realized that I
combined time and day of 2 different days resulted in me being at work an hour early
for that day. To kill time I wondered around Walmart, found these 4pk plates for a
buck, added blue placemats (4) for 2 bucks, and the round serving plate for 3.50, so for about
$12 dollars I have  Red White & Blue for the table.

As for the center piece, I have been collecting Hydrangeas for a while - have
been wanting to do a Nantucket Beach table & Hydrangeas makes me think
Nantucket. Well, I thinking I have reached my budget on the table and getting new
flowers was not a part the spending (only I never really made a budget.... ummm
something else I Need to Do). I made use of the Hydrangeas for this table.

Table done : check??..... run to store to pick up lunch : check.

While I was at the store I realize that what was keeping me from truly thinking
Red White & Blue was done - there was no Red in the center piece. I had Red on the table,
I had tried some Pink Roses - Nope didn't like....

It's pretty but no; then I remembered my Star. A Christmas ornament that is
doing double duty for holiday decorating.

And works well with the star votive candle dishes.

                     Lunch -

Cheese Burger and Fries. A perfect lunch. Though this is a lunch just for me
I didn't fry up a lot of fries and that second burger is just a Tomato sandwich, which
was saved for a later - reheated burgers are not that tasty, too dry; I thought for 'photo
pretty' the use of the serving plate would be great but food for 1 would make it skimpy,
so I added the extra 'burger'.

I may have to rethink my Food - photographing, styling, and menu.

I enjoyed my lunch in the festive decor. I pray that your 4th of July festivities are full
     family and fun.

                                until next table,
                                                   Mia

Tropical Flamingo Pink Table

                                                Flamingo Pink

I had loads of fun gathering the elements -  Flamingo themed items - for this look.

The center piece was my most challenging. I wanted Hibiscus flowers but
none was found at my local Hobby Lobby ( that large green spot is just waiting for
that bright pink bloom). As I was looking for tropical flowers and seeing the Calla Lillie
and Orchids, the arrangement began to form.

My Guest of  Honor  Alpinia the Flamingo, she enjoyed our little get together. I found
her at Retail and just had to have her, she was a Mother's day gift toy that I bought after so it
was marked down. Win Win Alpinia now has a home with me & I didn't pay a lot for her.

When it came to the dish I wanted to add to the theme I thought what could be more
Tropical then a Fruit Salad. Though I'm pretty sure if I asked Sissa what was a more common
dish for Florida - flamingos, Florida, And Tropics go together I think; and this Sissa lived in
Florida for a while, I would get a different dish then Fruit Salad.

Dinner was a Grilled Munster Cheese with Apple and Onion Chutney on English
Toasting Bread along with Fruit Salad. With expanding how I share my Table with you I
am now planning a Menu. This also means trying new dishes or being creative with old
favorites - like Grilled Cheese Sandwich.

Loved my cute like Block signs & the Flamingo Salt & Pepper. The Flamingo
S&P was actually a set of flamingo & cactus S&P and I didn't think cactus would work,
so I  bought 2 sets, used 2 flamingos and thought ummmm now I may just now have to
   do a Cactus Table?

This guy (well, there are 2) where too cute to pass up when I was looking for
Flamingo inspiration, being picture/placecard holders really isn't what I wanted but I still
just had to have and makes a nice addition to the floral arrangement.  They can be used as
intended in the next Flamingo Table...

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did setting this up. I also hope this inspires you
to be creative with your table.

                                    until next table,
                                                   Mia

Photos the last 3 weeks

Something Old

This one is from years ago and when the subject for Something Old came up,
I knew it had to be my old books, once I got over the need to find some Hot Rods. I just
didn't make the time to pull out the books and take any new pictures.

In the Corner

I was out running errands and I was letting GPS take me in new directions. Here
I was  'in the corner' with a lovely view of the city from on  top of a Hill. Next is a
Backyard Garden picture of the Ornamental Grass in the Corner. I did nothing to prepared
for the pictures, it was a 'in the moment' capture.

  Up Close

With the passed few weeks being a in the moment capture, this is the best one.

I didn't zoom in and nor did I lay down. I squat down and put my phone where I
believed to get the best image, snapped a couple of pictures and there we go, Up Close. I
was  headed to the track for a walk and saw some pink clovers, a few mushrooms and
thought lovely, take some pictures; so I did. Was not even thinking of the Photos topic
  when I began snapping away.

Now we are caught up..... I think. I'm not gonna pretend and say that I will post
every weekend but as you can see I really don't plan when I take these pictures. I may
plan taking some of my favorite topic ( like the Something Old or Flowers) and doing a
  post on my favorite topics.

                                  until next capture moment,
                                                       Mia

A Summer White Table

I knew the best way to show off  Summer is with some Ice Cream,

                                         ..... and Chocolate Syrup.

I set a pretty table using cork mats as placemats. If you remember I picked them up
a couple years ago to make a bulletin board by my desk. Never liked the idea but when
I gave them a new purpose.

Ice Cream always need it's pairing -

I tossed a few raspberries, sprinkled a few nuts and had myself a lovely
bowl of vanilla ice cream smothered with chocolate syrup.

I put the them in the newest thrift store find in a couple of coup glasses

I love thrifting and finding china cabinet items. I am looking forward to the
          many uses of these glasses.

                                      until next table,
                                                    Mia
